My Dear Darling Wife-

Day before yesterday Sim (?) came & from some little inconvenience he left my trunk in Richmond to come on the freight train. I arrived here last night all right & I have many, many heartfelt thanks to Know that the loved ones at home have not forgotten me but wear me in their heart of hearts. Oh! what a blessing; what a solace to know & to feel that there is a pure heart full of loving Kindness that always beats for us, that never forgets us. Darling I am delighted with my undershirts. Every one that sees them admires them verry much & it heightens the interest in them when I tel them that they were knit by your own hands. They say our women are fast becoming in dependent in the domenstic line. I called to see Col Gibson to day & he expressed a great desire to have my gown. I wore it on the occasion. He told me to leave it or send it to him & I could go to Richmond & order me a nice uniform coat & charge it to him. I will leave it to you. What say you? Shall I let him have it? But to be more interesting- on Wednesday or Thursday Wright will be back & I will renew my application to come home. Col Gibson who is now in Com’d of the Brigade thinks I can get off. He certainly will aid me all he can. So be hopeful once more. Sim bro’t a good deal in the eating line for the boys & all were happy once more to hear from friends & relatives & get assurances of being remembered at home. We sat up til near 1 o’clock cooking & eating. I would not take anything for the edibles you sent me in the clothes, Darling, everything looked so clean & nice I thot I was blest with your presence once more. I thot you certainly must be about. Dio volente. May it be so soon. Tell Sis Jule I would not take $25 for the pants. They suit me exactly & fit me nicely. But the nice under & over shirts suits me & pleases every body. Give my love to all. Kiss Son & Sis Jule & all for me. With the hope to see you soon. I am your affectionate Husband Fes
